about udok

Udok Performing Arts, co-founded by Sri Rajib Saha and Smt. Moumita Chatterjee, disciple of Padma Shri Guru Geeta Chandran, stands as a vibrant centre for Indian classical dance in Kolkata and beyond. Dedicated to preserving, promoting, and transmitting India’s rich cultural heritage, Udok Performing Arts has earned recognition both nationally and internationally through its commitment to artistic excellence, cultural education, and meaningful community engagement.
Driven by a vision to inspire younger generations, Udok continues to present the timeless beauty of Indian classical dance through performances, workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and international cultural collaborations. Its mission is to nurture appreciation for India’s artistic traditions while fostering cultural dialogue across communities and countries.
As part of this continuing journey, Udok Performing Arts is proud to propose a series of classical dance events in Australia since 2023, featuring the distinguished Geeta Chandran—one of India’s foremost Bharatanatyam artists, a Padma Shri awardee. Renowned for her dynamic artistry, scholarship, and innovative approach to Bharatanatyam, Guru Geeta Chandran has played a pivotal role in presenting the classical form to contemporary audiences while remaining deeply rooted in its traditional ethos.

Recognitions and International Engagements:

Udok Performing Arts has actively participated in several prestigious classical dance festivals and cultural events across India and abroad, receiving appreciation for its artistic presentations and educational initiatives.
A significant milestone in Udok’s international journey was the successful organisation of the “Margam” Festival across Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra. The festival brought eminent and senior artists from Kolkata to Australia, creating valuable opportunities for artistic exchange, cultural appreciation, and community engagement.
Building upon this success, Udok Performing Arts is planning a larger and more inclusive cultural initiative in 2026, with proposed events across Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin, and Canberra.

We look forward to exploring possibilities for partnership and working together towards a memorable and enriching cultural experience.
